According to some sources the first cruise ship was an Italian vessel called Francesco I built in 1833.

After launching from Hamburg on June 29 1900 the Victoria Luises first cruise lasted 35 days and explored ports in the West Indies and Venezuela. The Prinzessin Victoria Luise measured 406 feet 124 meters long by 52 feet 16 meters wide and was 4409 gross tons source. The last built in the USSR 2 river cruise ships Soviet Union and Lenin were built at the Gorky plant in 1959-1960.
It was launched in June 1994. In February 1901 Scientific American highlighted that the vessel was designed for a class of service which hitherto has been performed by the regular ships of this companythe first vessel. The Disney Magic s first cruise was originally scheduled for March 1998 but was postponed twice while the Disney Wonder was scheduled for December 1998. Built in 1991 in the Fincantieri shipyard in Trieste Italy she is one of only two cruise ships designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano.
Oriana was constructed at Meyer Werfts shipyard located in Papenburg Germany. After coming to power the Nazi party wanted to endear itself to German workers. Launched on 29 June 1900 she served with HAPAG until 16 December 1906 after being accidentally grounded off Jamaica.
