The pastry chef is responsible for preparing and making all of the pastries and desserts on board the ship for the guests and crew as well as for the various gift shops. Heshe is responsible for documenting and communicating with the Chief Pastry andor the Executive Chefs personal assistant in regards to variances exceptions and maintenance issues.
The Pastry Chef onboard a cruise ship is a member of the Galley staff the Galley is the term used to describe the kitchen on cruise ships and is the head of the Pastry and Bakery sections. Executive Chef Overseer of culinary operations and team as well as presentations and preparation. As the first cook in the galley of a cruise ship you will oversee the bakers and pastry chefs and also manage the second cook and third cook.
Many pastry chefs obtain a degree in culinary arts or hospitality. The Pastry Chef reports directly to the First Cook. Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes cookies pies bread etc.
Pastry chefs must complete formal training at a community college technical school culinary arts school or a 2-year or 4-year college. Chef De Partie is a senior middle-management level position on board a cruise ship. The chef de partie will earn between 350000 and 410000 per month. The entire galley staff is subordinate to the Executive Chef and ultimately to the Hotel Manager.
